Type On A Path: What’s Wrong With This Picture?

This has bugged me for years. I can’t hold it in any longer. When you create type on a path in InDesign or Illustrator, you’re given five options: Rainbow, Skew, 3D Ribbon, Stair Step, and the truly hilarious Gravity. The names Ribbon, Stair Step, and Gravity reasonably describe the appearance of the text on the path. But not Skew and 3D Ribbon: “Skew” looks like a 3D ribbon, and “3D Ribbon” is, well, skewed.
